“Talk with your mind before you talk with your tongue.” Anonymous
Darren’s takeaway: Like anything else in life, being responsible with what we have not only protects us but also those around us. When you think more about the person receiving your words then yourself, there is safety. Words that we say can strengthen, encourage, edify and bless. But they can also tear down, hurt, discourage and provoke even if that isn’t our intent. We may think if our words are true, it is ok to say them. We think if the words are full of knowledge then we can speak them. If they are funny then they will bring joy. The fact is, where those words land who they land too can bring a very different result. We don’t justify speaking by where the words come from, we justify speaking by where and how the words land. Think before you speak…it is a very simple concept but rarely followed. You may very well save a lot of heartbreak by simply thinking before you speak.
Have a fantastic weekend, Darren
